Yuxuan Zhou

London-based illustrator, cross-disciplinary designer, and researcher.

Yuxuan Zhou explored her interest in storytelling during her Master’s Degree course in Goldsmiths, University of London. She focuses on sustainable fashion issues, but rather than having a macroscopic looking at the global influence, she tends to introduce the topic from an intimate perspective focusing on individual feelings and experiences. Through a series of explorations in podcasts, performances, writings and drawings, Yuxuan finally finds her passion for visual storytelling and starts to create comics and illustrations about fashion. With her design background and experience in various mediums, she considers each of her project as the product of experiments and art direction, aiming to find the best match between brand image and visual style to create a unique fashion narrative.

Her adventurous spirit in illustration now meets the field of children’s publishing. Yuxuan joined Pathways into the Children’s Publishing Programme in 2023 and actively absorbs knowledge and skills about children’s books. She indulges in weaving stories about her own characters while also enjoys the process of learning new knowledge through illustrating non-fiction books.

Lastly, Yuxuan is also an independent researcher focused on visual semiotics and phenomenology, her works mainly focus on the discussion of disabled body and transcultural body.
